About Us

Brian Haycock

Brian Haycock – Lead Guitar

Brian has been a huge Cliff and The Shadows fan since 1958. He joined his first band whilst still at school and learnt his performing skills playing in clubs and pubs in the Reading area. Over the years he has played in various ’60s bands and was also a member of The Silver Shadows. It was at a gig in 2005 that he first met drummer Chris and identified him as a fellow Shadows enthusiast, and they decided to team up.

Over his playing career, Brian has been privileged to have played alongside Shadows members Bruce Welch, Brian Bennett, Mark Griffiths, Alan Jones and Cliff Hall and from The Tornados, Clem Cattini.

Chris Wright

Chris Wright – Drums

Chris started playing drums when he was 13 and was gigging at local resort venues while still at school in Great Yarmouth.  Shadows drummers Tony Meehan and Brian Bennett were his role models and in 2007 Chris was proud to make an award to Brian Bennett on behalf of The Music Industries Association at the Savoy Hotel, marking Brian’s 50th Anniversary in show business. He also owns the Yamaha drum kit which Brian Bennet used on tours and recordings with The Shadows in the late 80s and early 90s.

In a playing career spanning 58 years he has played in a variety of bands including top Midlands band Revelation in the 70s and West End club band Coda in the 80s. His teachers have included Bobby Orr and David Bowie’s drummer Woody Woodmansey.  As well as The Bourne Again Shadows Chris also plays in his ‘family’ rock band The Flying Wright Brothers with his brother Steve and two sons Andrew and Ian.

Chris proudly endorses Drum Workshop drums, Zildjian cymbals and Protection Racket cases.

Eric Pole

Eric Pole – Keyboards

Eric started playing the bass guitar at the start of the ’60s before changing to keyboards. He returned to the music of The Shadows in the early ‘90s – first as lead guitarist then bass guitarist in The Silver Shadows. Eric also played for four years, on bass, with The Runaways alongside Graham Hyde.

He has brought a new dimension to the band recreating the sounds of the Norrie Paramor Orchestra which were so prominent on many Shadows recordings in the ’60s.

As well as The Bourne Again Shadows, Eric also plays bass guitar in a local music ensemble.

Graham Hyde

Graham Hyde – Rhythm Guitar

Graham acquired his first guitar in 1962 while on holiday in Spain and upon his return bought a copy of Bert Weedon’s Play in a Day.  He has been trying to get his money back ever since! A year later he bought a red electric guitar and formed his first Shadows tribute band – The Tritons.

His musical interests were interrupted by university and the day job but in 2008 he began playing again at local guitar clubs.  In 2009 he organised ‘Celebrating the Shadows for Children in Need’ which bought together a number of Shadows tribute acts from across the UK playing to an audience of 400.  Graham played with busy gigging band The Runaways for several years and formed The Bourne Again Shadows In 2012. Until recently he was musical director for the Forum Players amateur dramatic group at the Bourne End Community Centre.  Graham now lives in Marchwood and is much closer to the Southampton cruise ship terminals!

Cliff

Cliff Thompson – Bass Guitar

Cliff, who was born and spent most of his life in South Africa, has always enjoyed the music of Cliff and the Shadows.  His first guitar was an old painted acoustic guitar which he acquired at the age of 11.  He and a friend used to ‘get together’ and practice the Shadows songs to play at a local talent show, which by the way they won.  Later they met up with a group of friends and they formed a band and played for a couple of years at various venues up and down the South Coast of Natal.

His career prevented him from continuing with actively pursuing music, however after retiring and relocating to the UK he recommenced playing bass at a players club in Surrey and in 2019 joined a Woking group called Breakthru.  In 2023 he started playing with The Bourne Again Shadows as their bass player.

Bob Dore

Bob Dore – Sound Engineer

Bob has been sound engineering musical theatre, festivals and bands since 1978. He uses a Midas sound desk and Turbosound speakers but is familiar with wide ranging brands and sound systems including Yamaha, Allen & Heath and Digico desks. He has been the regular sound engineer for Killer Queen, Second Offence, Rock On, The Crickettes, The Bootleg Shadows plus, of course, Simon Goodall and The Bourne Again Shadows.

When not behind the mixing desk he can be found playing keyboards being involved in several bands several of which were alongside The Bourne Again Shadows’ members Brian, Chris, Graham and Eric.
